Electronic Product Design
Electronics product design involves, various stages such as creating the basic specifications of the PCB, certifications needed for the end product, Circuit design, Simulation of circuit, selection of proper passive and active components, selection of PCB stack-up, PCB layout design, signal integrity analysis for PCB layout, ensuring design for manufacturability of PCB and generation of Gerber for PCB fabrication, and assembly files. Then comes the PCB assembly, board bring up, testing in Electrostatic discharge safe environment.
Product design can be perfect and can be done in optimal time, only when the the engineers have deep understanding of the components they choose, the way they are used in the circuit etc., The challenge will be to have both broad and depth of knowledge in various areas such as passive, active components specs and characteristics, circuit design with power management, high precision analog, high speed digital, RF and system level safety aspects. The intention of this website is to help engineers with knowledge on all these critical areas.

Expertise needed for electronic product design
Foundation for every electronic product design is deeper understanding of components that starts with Resistors, Capacitors and Inductors, which are often overlooked by engineers. However, a strong understanding of these basic passive elements is the first and right step towards a successful product design. Second aspect is the understanding of discrete semiconductor components like Types of Diodes, Transistors, MOSFETs, IGBTs etc and Integrated Power, Analog and Digital ICs. Third aspect is the understanding and importance of PCB layout from electrical, thermal and mechanical aspects and fair insight on the PCB design for manufacturing (DFM) guidelines. Fourth aspect is the understanding of EMI EMC related specifications, design aspects and testing, Idea on the RF certifications.
The blogs under the Engineering category gives insights on all the expertise areas mentioned.
